The resistance thermometer is suited for operation on tanks and pipings. All standard types of process connections are available. Because of its robust design it is suitable for use in a great number of technological processes. The change in resistance, dependant on the measurement temperature, can be detected by a transmitter and converted into a standardized signal. A variety of transmitters for head mounting is available for different applications.

Mechanical inline thermometers allow dead-zone free measuring of the pipe wall temperature. Measuring is performed without cross-sectional alterations. The lower the medium viscosity, the higher the measurement accuracy. The whole inner surface of the pipe wall works as temperature detecting element. The temperature transducer becomes an integrated part of the pipeline. Various pipe connection elements are available. At CIP cleaning the nominal range should not be exceeded.

These thermometers are suitable for use outdoors and in aggressive environments. Gas expansion thermometers with clip-on bulb offer some benefits to the user: no change in pipeline cross-section, the line thus remains piggable and retrofitting; can be carried out without interfering with the process; simple mounting.
If the exact orientation of the indication is not known before mounting, we recommend using the positionable version. With this version the case may be re-positioned once by ± 180° with respect to the pipeline. Further information on mounting these devices and measuring errors is to be found in the operating instructions BTA-017.
