The resistance thermometer for measuring surface temperature measures temperatures at tanks and pipes. The thermometer is mounted on the surface of the object with a weld-on or weld-in socket. This is a very straightforward procedure. The measuring insert is pressed against the surface being measured by a pre-defined spring force. The temperature sensor is thermally isolated to prevent heat dissipation. Changes in surface temperature are converted to changes in resistance which can be sensed by a transmitter and converted to a standard signal. A range of suitable transmitters are available for different applications. Many applications for this instrument are to be found.

Inline temperature transducers allow a dead-zone free measuring of the pipe wall temperature. Measuring is performed without cross-sectional alterations and without contact of the medium with the measuring resistor. The transducer is integrated in the piping by intermediate screwing. A variety of screwings are available for different applications.

The measuring inserts per DIN 43762 are designed for installation in resistance thermometers. Two models are available:
a) rigid measuring insert
b) flexible measuring insert as sheaded element for high vibration level application
The measuring insert is spring loaded to ensure that the measuring insert is pressed down on the bottom of the thermowell. Instead of the terminal socket a transmitter can be installed, or the measuring insert is prepared with flying leads for transmitter mounting.
